Career in Nursing - Try Free CNA Training

Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) is the first step towards pursing a career in nursing. A nursing assistant basically deals with supervision of the ailing patients. The nursing assistant works under the guidance of the nurse.

The basic training consists of classroom instructions and training in actual medical facilities. During the instruction classes the students are not allowed to get in direct contact with patients. But after the completion of the classes, the students are allowed to get in direct contact with the patients in order to restore their health.

Apart from a high school diploma or graduation one has to do six to twelve months of training of CNA in a medical facility or a community college. Students are given practical experience during the clinical actions.

The CNA training program trains a person in various kinds of healthcare jobs that are done in a hospital or in any other medical care facility. For example, jobs such as handling an injured or ill patient and taking care of their basic needs, etc. The handling of basic equipments in the hospitals such as the x-ray machines, overhead irrigation bottles, injections and a range of others gear are also taught to the students throughout the period of internship. Basic nursing skills, nutrition and infection control are also part of the training.

The terms and conditions of these Certification courses vary from state to state. In USA, it is compulsory that all the training centers for CNA follow the provision of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987. Exams are also conducted at the end of the training program. It is mandatory for all the students to clear both the examination, that is, written and practical.
